China spins clash of Taiwan fishing vessel with a Japanese fishing vessel

On Sept. 12, a Taiwanese fishing vessel, the Ming Ching Tsai No. 12, had a fender-bender with a Japanese fishing vessel, causing only minor leakage of water into the Japanese vessel, with no one injured on either side. The timing and place of the incident are sensitive as this was the first clash of Taiwanese and Japanese vessels since late spring when the two sides signed an amicable fishery agreement to deal with such incidents.
