China’s guided missile destroyer QingDao arrives in Hawaii on Sept. 6. /U.S. Navy/MC Seaman Johans Chavarro

A flotilla of three Chinese PLAN ships arrived at Pearl Harbor on Sept. 7 to start a three-day joint search and rescue exercise with the U.S. Navy off the coast of Hawaii. This is the first time in nearly 8 years for Chinese warships to dock at Pearl Harbor. It occurred at a time when China is playing all its cards to isolate Japan from the U.S.
