Japan-Taiwan strategic agreements belie territorial dispute

Although Taiwan and Japan are ostensibly in a heated dispute over the Senkaku islands, the two nations are in reality growing closer as strategic and economic partners on operational levels. This was indicated recently by the signing of five important bilateral agreements.
