Super carrier and joint U.S.-Japan-South Korea exercise send strong signal to China, N. Korea

In a show of joint resolve, navy and marine personnel from the United States, Japan and South Korea conducted a two-day joint exercise starting on Oct. 9 in the waters south of South Korea. To prepare for the drill, the nuclear-powered U.S. super carrier, the USS George Washington left its homeport Yokusuka, Japan and arrived at South Korea’s Busan Port on Oct. 4.
