Two Boeing-built P-8A Poseidons have arrived at Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan.

The first two of six U.S. Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft arrived Dec. 1 at the U.S. Air Force Base at Kadena, Okinawa, significantly beefing up America’s military presence in the volatile region. The deployment is particularly significant considering its timing. The P-9A Poseidon arrived one week after China abruptly announced the establishment of an East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone.
